Smitten by a Kitchen!

That’s right! You read it right! I am smitten by a Kitchen! A range of built-in modular kitchen and the elegance of the kitchen appliances.

It is always said that the way to man’s heart is through his stomach! Agreed! But for a woman to cook, to excel in the culinary skills she would require few things:
*Good quality ingredients + great recipe
*The required vessels and appliances
& the most important thing is
*Clutter-free, spacious, elegant looking kitchen!

And guess where I found the bottom 2 criterias?
Only at the #kitchenstudioz by @vijaysalesofficial, Prabhadevi store!

Brand Hafele Built-In Kitchen

The moment I entered the store, it was magical. It was love at first sight, but with the varied range of products before me. I was enchanted by the look, feel and elegance of the studio. Every appliance made it is presence and spoke for its features and quality, and it was all that made the kitchen complete. The look was simple yet brilliant and right from the coffeemaker to the food processor, from the tandoori stove to the all-in-one microwave oven, from the cook tops to the chimneys, every item was unique and classy.

The studio encompassed of various brands like @hafele_india @faber_appliances @whirlpool_india and Elica which showcased their built in modular kitchen samples. The kitchen structures were brilliant as most of them were modular structures or island kitchen structure and few of them looking very pretty despite being a movable structure. Each designs were unique, each color was different. Right from the complete white kitchen to the copper chimneys, everything looked so perfect. There were so many types of cook tops, hob tops, chimneys, dishwashers, ovens, and refrigerators that looked so beautiful and rich. The white built-in refrigerator by #hafeleindia looked more like a royal cupboard from the outside and hardly took any space in the kitchen. But when we opened the fridge, it was just magnificent!

We also had a little commercial shoot with the gorgeous and humble @kishwersmerchantt, who welcomed us, THE MOM BLOGGERS COMMUNITY and awed us with her presence and a warm welcome.

Chef Hasnein from @hafele_india gave us an amazing tour of the entire #kitchenstudioz! It was an enriching experience for all of us where we learnt so much about how to choose / design our kitchen, how to choose the right appliances for our kitchen and of course, the products are available at a discounted price in Vijay Sales Store.

After the showcase of the 3rd floor of this magnificent Vijay Sales Building, we were asked our thoughts on the dream kitchen. And the magical aura of Kitchenstudioz made me imagine my dream kitchen too!

How relaxing it would be when my chopping work is done by a chopper/food processor, all my cooking gets done in a jiffy in my all-in-one oven by hafele or the all-in-one steam oven by Whirlpool India, while I have a look around my son through my island kitchen. As the dinner gets ready, hubby darling enters and we eat our food together. Afterall, a happy family is the one that eats the meal together. And as we finish our dinner, I put all the vessels into the beautiful dishwasher and set it on! One hour of family time, we play carrom or ludo or maybe a series in Netflix or a quick refreshing night walk. As we return, we have our chilled juice from the white built-in Hafele refrigerator and retire to our beds. The day starts and so does my household chores, but the only difference being, my kitchen time has reduced drastically and Me-time has been a new entrant. It just feels WOW when I imagine this, however I realise that I should have got my hubby along with me to make my dream come true. So I mentally make note of the dream kitchen and head to the courteous and polite staff for taking a note of the prices of my products.

Self Love: a guide to healthy life

“There’s nothing wrong with loving who you are”
She said, “‘Cause he made you perfect, babe”
“So hold your head up girl and you’ll go far,
Listen to me when I say”

I’m beautiful in my way
‘Cause God makes no mistakes
I’m on the right track, baby I was born this way!”

original

The song Born This Way created an uproar worldwide as Lady Gaga showed her support for the LGBT Community. So what?? When I look back at the lyrics of the song, all it conveys is “LOVE THY SELF” and “BE PROUD OF WHO YOU ARE“. We as a nation are fearless when it comes to military affairs or politics and what not, but when it comes to love, WE SIMPLY HIDE & LIE LOW! It is even worse, when it comes to SELF LOVE.

We feel that if we care for ourselves or if we go by our set priorities, the world would hate us and pull ourselves steps away from our inner-sense. But why do we do it?

I had always been like Geet from Jab We Met, but after getting married to a big family, life had been set on a roller coaster ride. The simplicity in life turned into huge amount of complexities making me neglect many of my priorities. All along, my husband stood beside me rock solid. We were like the lead couples from Tumhari Sulu by then.

An year after the marriage I was living a life, yet something was incomplete.  And then I had Ayaansh! The most beautiful aspect of my life! A part of us hovering around our feet, giving us the most blissful feelings of life. I was contended outside, but yet I struggled to keep the ambiguity inside. It was at that point last year, when I heard this song and something struck me very deeply & then it finally dawned upon me, ‘I HAD STOPPED LOVING MYSELF!’ The wife and mother in me had taken prominence, and the bubbly-talkative-full-of-life-girl was lost. I had forgotten my passions, my friends, my preferences and my desires.

So, what did I do next? I grabbed a notepad, a pen and did something that made me flip around! Well, these things worked for me and if these work for you, I will be very much elated.

STEP ONE: Write all the things that you never wanted to do or wish didn’t happen with you or all the things that makes you cringe. You can write few names, places or instances, whatever that comes to your mind. Please remember when you do this activity, let there be no one bothering you, put your phones in silent mode. You will be surprised to see a long list. Once complete, read it aloud. Repeat once more if required. NOW, TEAR IT INTO AS MANY AS PIECES YOU WANT. FLUSH IT OR THROW IT. NEVER LOOK BACK!

STEP TWO: Take a pretty book, fancy colored pens. Write about all the things/people/places you love. Jot down all the movies you want to see, the music you want to listen, the food you love to eat, the places you want to go. READ IT ALOUD AGAIN! REPEAT IF NEEDED. You feel alive after doing it.

STEP THREE: I discussed all my desires and ambitions from STEP 2 with my husband, we further made our year goals. We plan our week, our days ahead and ensure our schedules are set. I had asked my husband to do the above steps so that we both can be on the same page and since we had many a things different in our list, we make sure to give each other that ME TIME to fulfil the desires, whatsoever by taking turns in looking after the little one.

STEP FOUR: When things got sorted out between us, the battle was half won. But to conquer the world I had to say NO, to many people around me. It was now very imperative that I stood to my ground and set my preferences. The family and the world were seeing a revolutionary version of me. Many times at this stage, we were mocked, pushed and shoved and the real battle had begun and I am fortunate to have my hubby as the backbone of my life.

STEP FIVE: At this point, my happiness and peace was restored and I ensured that I have my ME TIME every day. My #metime includes reading books, listening to my choice of music, watching TED Videos or commercials, watching new recipes, doing my DIY stuff.
So, it’s very important to do the things we love on a daily basis. The ME TIME can be 5 minutes to an hour or 2(you are lucky, if you get more!).  UTILISE IT EFFECTIVELY!

STEP SIX: GO OUT and MEET NEW PEOPLE. Network with like-minded individuals. Go on a shopping-spree. Catch-up with old buddies, share those nostalgic memories. Call your friends often. Be in touch.

STEP SEVEN: EAT, PRAY AND LOVE your body!
Have your morning cup of coffee/tea/breakfast in a non-frenzy manner. Relish it, savor your food. You are eating for maintaining a healthy body. A healthy body gives you healthy mind and in turn makes you positive. SO EAT, DON’T SACRIFICE THAT ONE PIECE OF APPLE FOR YOUR LOVED ONES. YOU ARE YOUR FIRST LOVE!

PRAY:
Be thankful for all the good things and people in your life. Be humble to all, Thank the Almighty. If things are going wrong, still pray! Pray to HIM to make things right. Ask for help if required. Show your gratitude, reciprocate the love.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, LOVE YOUR BODY! You may be slim or chubby, doesn’t matter – JUST STAY FIT! Exercise and Meditate. Get the stamina up. Go for a trek, run a marathon and eat a cookie! JUST KEEP LOVING YOURSELF!

Because:

Don’t be a drag, just be a queen
Whether you’re broke or evergreen
You’re black, white, beige, cholo descent
You’re Lebanese, you’re Orient
Whether life’s disabilities
Left you outcast, bullied, or teased
Rejoice and love yourself today
‘Cause baby you were born this way

WISH YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2019!

The dynamics of being a Stay At Home Mumma

20190307_092836_0001

We all come in different sizes, from different races and different choices! Yet we are all the same! Yes, we are the MOTHERS!!

We are the Mothers of Today’s World! We are Stay at home moms, we work – out of home/from home or we are single moms!

But what matters is, ‘WE ARE CONFIDENT MOMS!’

I distinctly remember the day of my first sonography, when I heard the soft thuds of my little one’s heart and it was at that very moment, I decided I would be a Stay-At-Home-Mom. It came as a shock to many who knew me, who knew I was so passionate at work. My parents and my in-laws were concerned about the choice I had made. Few of them wanted to know the real reasons.
But my real reason was to rejoice, cherish and celebrate the blessings of motherhood and spend as much time with my little one. My darling husband stood beside me rock solid.
And trust me, THIS WAS THE BEST DECISION I MADE IN MY LIFE! Now, let me tell you all, the perks of being a SAHM:

  1. I get to spend the maximum time with my child. Three years have passed by, there have been moments when I was depressed or furious, but that naughty smile of Ayaansh still makes my day. We play, read books, go shopping, do the crazy dance, sing like there is no tomorrow, cuddle and kiss every now and then, and still feel the day is not enough. I will be honest I feel a little jealous too, when there is extra excitement the moment he sees his father coming after work. But, this is happiness too!!
  2. My hands are full: I still am busy with my household chores and there is a lot happening in my brain too! Many people around us have a myth that a housewife has nothing to think about. But we do have. I like to plan my days right from clothes to cooking, the books I want to read, and the activities for Ayaansh, etc. I love arranging surprises for my loved ones and their reactions are my boosters for life.
  3. Pursuing Passions: Reading books and owning a library has been a dream from childhood and being at home gives me a lot of time to read a vast range of books. Also, cooking has been a therapeutic activity and have explored & learned various cooking styles like One pot One shot method among others. I learnt to make chocolates from the scratch, bake cakes & cookies, savouries and sweets, churn the icecreams, etc. Painting and gardening is yet another activity that I enjoy and now with the little one, it is a daily delight! We plant the seeds, watch it grow, enjoy the little pleasures together.
  4. Getting married to a joint family helped me to learn the home management skills, and now that we are in a nuclear setup, it has been easy for me to implement those. So, I pay the bills, keep my house clean and do my day-to-day activities with ease. This has happened only because I am SAHM. Yes, I am dependent on my husband for finances, but I manage my home as per my convenience and set of rules.
  5. I work! The tiny squares in Instagram have kept me busy and now with this blog, I intend to keep myself busier than usual. Afterall, when the little one grows and starts schooling, I got to utilize my time and, who doesn’t enjoy earning the extra pennies! Moreover, I loved working for brands – planning their campaigns and commercials, so why not brand myself, right?

There are varied reasons for a women to choose her path of motherhood. Few of us love to stay back at home, few of us manage both the aspects and few us love their work and hire a help.

So what? We all are mothers – Women who have preferences in life!

Women who like to follow their heart!

Women who believe that ‘A Happy Mother Raises A Happy Kid’

And a women who belives:

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…”

Yes, Dr. Seuss(Oh,The Places You’ll Go!) we get to decide where we want to go!
